1000 Books Before Kindergarten

The 1000 Books Before Kindergarten is an amazing initiative to start kids reading young! The benefits of reading to your child and having them start reading by themselves before Kindergarten is vast! Kids learn about empathy, how to handle their emotions, ceate connections, and learn life skills through reading.

How do you sign up your kid?

Swing by the Youth Services desk and grab a folder labeled 1000 Books Before Kindergarten. This folder details how this program works, reading logs, and other resources. You or your child can write their name on a paper car and decorate it. The car will be moved along the track in the library as they progress in their reading challenge. Once they have read 1000 Books, they will have their picture taken with our photo frame and join the CHCPL Wall of Fame!
